Incredibly Easy Coffee Oatmeal Smoothie to Boost Your Day

A perfect blend of caffeine and protein to wake you up in the morning

I started getting tired of having overnight oats for breakfast every morning and I needed something quick and easy. What else can I have that has vegan protein and will take me a few minutes to make?

That’s when I started playing with smoothie combos. I tried different ingredients until I discovered this delicious coffee oatmeal smoothie that’s perfect for a hot summer day.

With only a handful of ingredients, all of which you likely have in your pantry, this smoothie can easily become your new favorite grab-n-go breakfast!

Being that it’s a drink, you can sip it while you relax on the couch, or while you’re running around, getting your last minute chores done.

Either way, it’s a versatile breakfast that doesn’t keep you tied to the table, eating with a fork or spoon.

Ingredients

5 basic ingredients and you’ve got yourself a delightful coffee breakfast smoothie!

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1/2 tablespoon coffee
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup nondairy milk
  • 5 ice cubes

About the cocoa, I like to use a hot chocolate mix that’s already sweet. This way, I don’t have to add too much sugar. But if you want, you can use regular cocoa and simply add a bit more sugar, depending on your liking.

Also, with the nondairy milk – you can choose to use vanilla soymilk like I sometimes use, which will cause the oatmeal smoothie to be sweeter. You can also use unsweetened and it will be a bit less sweet.

I like it on the sweeter side since the coffee will make it quite bitter.

Directions

Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender, like the Ninja – which is my absolute favorite, and blend until it’s all smooth.

If you’re using the Ninja, it’ll take about 20-30 seconds.

If you’re using a different blender that isn’t as powerful, you’ll likely need 1-2 minutes. You should be able to tell when it’s smooth when you stop hearing the ice crushing.

What to pair your coffee oatmeal smoothie with

Now that you have your breakfast drink, you may also want to nibble on something while you sip this refreshing smoothie. I like to munch on a cookie or a moist muffin.

These are a few of my favorite recipes to enjoy this coffee oatmeal smoothie with:

However, you can easily make this coffee shake as your entire breakfast and that’s still satisfying.
